📊 AFQT Score Explained

The Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score is a percentile score (1–99) calculated from 4 subtests:

AFQT = f(AR + MK + VE) VE (Verbal Expression) = WK + PC scaled scores Score ranges: I = 93–99 (Top performers) II = 65–92 IIIA = 50–64 IIIB = 31–49 IVA = 21–30 IVB = 16–20 IVC = 10–15 V = 1–9 (Not eligible)
💡 Key Tip: Most branches require an AFQT of 31 or higher. High school graduates typically need a lower minimum than GED holders. Waivers may be available on a case-by-case basis.
